What is Music For Little Mozarts?

The Cantabile School of Music presents an Early Learning Music Class for children ages 4-6. Written specifically for the preschool age group, the Music for Little Mozarts series is a carefully-crafted curriculum that provides a balance between the discipline necessary for playing the piano and the enjoyment one receives from the process of music making.

About the Course

The course centers on the adventures of Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse as they learn about music. Three books at each of four levels guide the children through a comprehensive approach to musical learning using the piano over approximately a two-year period.

New concepts are introduced and carefully reinforced. Each page contains a fragment of the story as background for each new concept or new piece of music, as well as practice instructions. The music was written to develop finger dexterity in young children and includes clever lyrics that will appeal to the student’s imagination.

Class Information

How long does each class run?

Each Music for Little Mozarts class generally runs for 60 minutes long. This may vary depending on the amount of students in the class.

Do we have to have our own keyboard?

Since Music For Little Mozarts is a Keyboard Course, it is advised at some stage in the course for parents to have a keyboard or piano at home for the child to practice. Our school can provide recommendations in purchasing or renting an instrument. Having a keyboard at home is not necessary if you would like to attend a trial class.

What are the benefits of this course?

What will students learn in this course?

Music for Little Mozarts combines general musicianship activities with those that develop performance skills at the piano. Skills taught in the course focus on keyboard performance, listening, pitch matching, keyboard technique, singing, rhythm, movement, and music appreciation. Children will play pieces at the piano throughout each level.

Tuition Fees

Music For Little Mozarts: $36.50 per class (60 minutes)

Fees and classes for Music for Little Mozarts is booked on a term-by-term basis.

How many students are in each class?

Students are arranged into the appropriate age group for their lesson. Please note this is a program that is based on age group and not by skill level or ability.

Music for Little Mozart classes will generally have 4 to 6 students per class.

What types of things can I expect to happen in the lesson?

Each lesson will include a variety of activities chosen from keyboard performance, singing, music appreciation, coloring, movement, listening, rhythm, and use of the magnetic/dry-erase board. The activities that occur in the lesson are structured to take into consideration the young child’s small hands and limited attention span.
