Please sign up by the 1st of June if you’d like to play at our student recital. Don’t worry, it’s not compulsory for students to play at the recital, but we do find A LOT of students end up joining. Students are more than welcome to bring their their friends and family too!
Sign up on the sheet corresponding to time session you’d like to perform in. Sign up sheets are found at the front desk of reception, and will be finalised by the 1st of June.
If you’re unsure of what to play, you can ask your teacher to recommend something to you. The main thing is to come and experience performing, and to enjoy an afternoon together to share beautiful music.

Kiara (pictured left) is five years old and has learnt how to name and count all her notes! Music FunTime is not a simple play group where children sing, dance, jump & play instruments. Our program is based on Johns-Hopkins Research that children 7 and under can learn to read music notation and symbols, play instruments, while fostering their ability to grasp math and science as they develop.

Group make-ups are one hour long, educational and fun. It’s also a good chance to do a variety of musical things outside of your private music lesson with other like-minded musicians.
Join the challenge! Each month a new challenge awaits. See you if you can stay at the top of the leaderboard to win some fabulous prizes and be Cantabile’s Music Hero!
How do I join?
1. Ask the front desk to get a nameplate for yourself
2. Design your nameplate – colour it, decorate it, whatever you like! (Make sure we can read your name on it though)
3. Look for the challenge of the month according to your instrument (Don’t worry! Ladders are also separated into instrument levels)
4. Complete the challenge. Your teacher can put your nameplate on the board. Each week you can do your best to outdo your time/score or beat your competitors!
Prizes are given each month to the top of the leaderboard!
The Music Ladder System
Music Ladder wristbands are being earned day after day by many students. We are one of the only music schools in Melbourne that gives students the opportunity to earn special coloured wristband bracelets, trophies and certificates for passing musical tests. The Music Ladder System is our unique method of music education that you can only get here at the Cantabile School of Music!
The Cantabile School of Music supports The Song Room, a non-for-profit organisation that strives to give all Australian children equal access to a quality education with musical and art opportunities.
It’s hard to believe that approximately 3 out of 4 children in Australia do not have access to education in music and arts, and face long-term disadvantage from poor access to quality education resources.
Our school believes that every child deserves the best possible start and every opportunity to succeed in life.
You can show your support by making a small donation in one of our red tins in the school to help support this cause. You can also purchase one of our $2 Air Instruments which will be donated to put a real instrument in the hands of a child who needs it.
We serve to create a community
Our students come from many different suburbs including Mount Waverley, Wantirna South, Scoresby, Knoxville, Berwick, Narre Warren, Ashwood, Burwood, Burwood East, Vermont, Wantirna, Vermont South, Wheelers Hill, Blackburn, Box Hill, Doncaster, Springvale, Clayton and other surrounding areas.
