“Empowering young musicians to achieve their best – our students excel in music examinations with confidence and proficiency!”

Our music school takes pride in offering our students the opportunity to undertake music examinations with boards such as the AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board). Since opening our school in 2016, we have had over 400 students complete their AMEB Examinations with us. These assessments are recognised nationwide as a measure of musical ability and are an excellent way for students to be formally accredited for the their achievements.

The AMEB exams are graded on a level system, from Preliminary to Grade 8, and students have to demonstrate a range of musical skills such as performance, sight-reading, aural ability and musical general knowledge.

Here are some of the many students that have achieved their AMEB Certification

We primarily prepare our students for the AMEB Exams (Australian Music Examinations Board) as it is recognised nationwide throughout of Australia.

We also prepare students other exam boards such as the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and Trinity College of Music.

Exam preparation typically begins when a student has:

  • Built a solid foundation in the basics of learning of the instrument
  • Begun to build consistent practice habits
  • Shown musical understanding and commitment to progress and development

Our examination program includes:

  • Comprehensive learning to fulfil all criteria of the examinations to an excellent standard. This not only learning the pieces, but technical work, aural ability and musical general knowledge

  • Mock exams and performance practice sessions

  • Progress tracking and written feedback throughout the year

  • Music Theory Classes – this is a prerequisite for students and certain practical examination grades

  • Performance opportunities to build confidence and performance experience

We are proud of all our students’ achievements. Many consistently receive Honours and High Distinctions, with some progressing to advanced diploma grades and receiving scholarships or music leadership roles at school.

Our approach balances academic success with musical enjoyment and long-term development.

Music Exams are not compulsory, but we recommend them for students to:

  • Inspire a commitment for learning

  • To achieve structured progress

  • Motivated by achievement and formal recognition

This will vary according to the grade level and the student’s level of progress.

Your teacher will be give you a plan and recommendation on when to take the music examination.
